While spending eight months living and traveling in Europe, I sent a total of 23 postcards home to Tennessee. Before stepping on the plane to Ireland, I had no idea what I wanted to do as a career. Armed with a degree in journalism, the possibilities were endless, but I had no focus, only a nagging dream to make art that I assumed would fade. Certain I would have some great epiphany during my European adventure, I was not worried.
However, as it turned out, the only stringing thought that made its way through the 11 countries I spent time in was that I wanted to start a greeting card company.
So here I am, with a little different plan, but the same premise – to make art my job. Those 23 postcards are the inspiration for this company, and the things I saw and experienced while sending them affect each piece I make. And I’m loving every minute of it!
